All signs are completely handmade

1. The piece of hardwood is chosen for the sign

2. The piece of wood is prepared by planning and sanding (1-2hrs)

3. The sign is marked out freehand (picture one)

4. The hand carving of the sign is started, depending on the     complexity of the design this process can take between 3 – 10 hrs

5. The sign is sanded to create a smooth finish (picture two)

6. The completed carving is sealed with a clear varnish to protect the grain and design

7. The sign is then painted where required, such as name or numbers, this is done with a lacquer

8. The sign is given a final sanding to ensure that the finished sign is free from flaws

9. Finally 3 coats of clear varnish are applied to the completed sign to protect the finished sign from the elements (picture three)

10. A single sign can take between 5 – 10 days from start to finish depending on how complicated the design is

Due to the extensive processes competed, the sign should remain weather proof for a minimum of three years depending on where it is sited, after this time an annual coat of clear yacht varnish should be sufficient to keep it in good condition for many years. All signs are supplied with free mounting brackets.
